The International Roshukai is Dedicated to the Study of the teachings of Iwata Norikazu Sensei. Iwata Sensei was knowledgeable in many of the iai schools. Iwata Sensei received his Menkyo Kaiden in Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu, the highest degree in the school some 40+ years ago. Iwata Sensei resided in Kagawa Japan on Shikoku island and studied in Kochi where Seito Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu was created. Iwata sensei is respected highly throughout Japan as a master swordsman and historian and has authored many books MJER technique and history. He has also made a training video with several of his senior students detailing the MJER waza.

Iwata Sensei felt that there was too much emphasis on the grade, that the grade was the carrot or the goal, and that the learning of the art should be goal.
